End Slavery Tennessee

For the last couple of years, David’s heart craved another non-profit cause that he could really get behind with passion, and dedicate not just his time, but his skills and wisdom learned. He kept coming back to the disturbing reality of sex trafficking in middle Tennessee. He shared this with his mentor George, and crazily enough, he was working as a consultant for the End Slavery of TN Board. George recommended David to the CEO, they interviewed him, and decided to bring him on in 2021 to their Board. He is so excited to make an impact on this community outside of financial planning, by participating in the fundraising board.

End Slavery Tennessee is a not-for-profit organization who provides specialized case management and comprehensive aftercare for human trafficking survivors and tactically addresses the problem through advocacy, prevention, and training of front-line professionals.

make-wish

Make-A-Wish Foundation

A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a life-threatening medical condition. This one belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish®. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve. It compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible.

David and Nikki enjoy volunteering as Wish Granters. Wish granters meet the family, help the wish child determine the wish and act as a liaison between Make-A-Wish staff members and the family during the planning process.

We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”

Saving Case

This organization has pulled on David’s heartstrings for over 10 years, and it has led him to serve on the board in several capacities since 2008. Saving Case & Friends, Inc. is a nonprofit research & advocacy foundation started in 2014 with a mission of finding and funding a cure for Hunter Syndrome. Hunter Syndrome, also called Mucopolysaccharidosis II, is a very rare genetic disease that affects approximately 2,000 boys worldwide and causes progressive loss of cognitive and physical abilities with an average life span of 12-15 years old. The organization was founded by Melissa & Chris Hogan after their son Case was diagnosed at the age of two with the condition and they had to watch him lose skills and watch his new-found friends lose the ability to talk, walk, and eat, and eventually pass away. Saving Case & Friends has worked tirelessly with academic, industry, and regulatory partnerships to streamline the research and regulatory processes in order to bring effective treatments to clinical stage and eventually to market. Its mission is to save this generation of boys. A cure is on the horizon.

Songs Against Slavery

After attending one of their events and hearing testimonies from victims of sex trafficking, we had to get behind this organization. Experts estimate that at least 100,000 children each year are trafficked into the United States. That doesn’t even include the thousands of adults who are trafficked daily. Sex trafficking is modern day slavery, and Songs Against Slavery is a non profit that works to empower and inspire communities to join the fight against this terrible situation. We’ve partnered with this cause to raise awareness and funds through benefit concerts and partnering with local musicians. Learn more at www.songsagainstslavery.org.
