Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What Do You Do?

We are a multi-service, white-glove financial planning and asset management team. For every client we work with, we strive to go above and beyond with the services we provide. On the asset management side, we hold different types of client accounts, i.e. brokerage accounts, IRA’s, etc. and help choose the investments inside those accounts. This goes hand in hand with financial planning. We manage these accounts by helping our clients connect to a bigger financial picture. We help answer important questions and point them towards our Retire While You Work™ philosophy.

What type of client do you serve?

We have clients of every type. Being here in Nashville we do seem to have a niche with artists, producers, and songwriters; however, we work a lot with individuals and families, executives, small business owners, athletes, and retirees.

Do you have a minimum?

We tend to mainly work from referrals and our only real “requirement” is that our clients are likeable, coachable, disciplined, and as committed to us as we are to them. Most of our clients fall in the $500,000 – $10,000,000 dollar range, but we certainly have clients outside of that range as well.

What are your credentials?

David, Spencer, Myles, and Carson are all CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals. This is a widely respected credential in our industry, and we are proud to say a majority of our team has gone through the rigorous schooling and testing to hold this accreditation. Not only that, but David and Carson are also Certified Public Accountants (CPA). Both David and Carson spent time in the public accounting world before starting their careers in financial planning. This gives them an invaluable perspective on the tax side of investments and financial planning.

How are you different than other financial advisors?

We feel that the level and breadth of service we provide is above our competitors. We go above and beyond to make our client’s experience more than that of just a standard financial advisor. We love what we do and cherish the deep relationships we have with clients. Our job is more than managing assets and studying the stock market. Our job is rooted in building relationships with the people we work with and helping them reach a multitude of goals over their lifetime. That could mean retiring early or simply spending more time with loved ones. We excel at what we do by helping people grasp the Retire While You Work™ mindset and cherish memories over dollars.

How do I get started?

The first step in our process is to complete our confidential questionnaire. This helps to learn a little bit about you and your situations. We do not collect any sensitive information in this questionnaire. To complete the questionnaire, click here, or give us a call at (615) 435-3644 or email us at david adams wealth group @ raymondjames.com and we will be happy to send this to you.

What can I expect for my first meeting?

The initial meeting is just for us to get to know you and you to get to know us. There’s no pressure and no cost. We’ll go through your questionnaire with you, ask questions, and see how we can serve you. We ask that for the initial meeting, you bring any sorts of financial statements and documents to help us be prepared and better understand your financial picture. Once our meeting is completed, we’ll do an email follow up with a direct proposal.

How do you get paid?

We utilize a fee-based cost structure with the majority of our clients where we bill on a percentage of the assets that we manage. Whether you work with us or another advisor we feel that this is the right way to do business. We feel that long-term this is the best way to build a solid relationship with our clients and create a win-win situation where we are both sitting on the same side of the table.

What does Retire While You Work™ mean?

Retire While You Work™ is the philosophy David has been working to build over the past 15 years. We feel that the typical retirement model – waiting until you are 65 and ready to retire – is broken. David and the team are committed to the financial well-being of our clients, now more than ever. Retire While You Work™ is centered around creating a work-life balance and designed to relieve the pressure of having to have some massive amount saved up to retire. Utilizing the three-bucket approach has helped clients of David Adams Wealth Group find joy in the journey of life while still satisfying ambitions and goals.

In a fee-based account clients pay a quarterly fee, based on the level of assets in the account, for the services of a financial advisor as part of an advisory relationship. In deciding to pay a fee rather than commissions, clients should understand that the fee may be higher than a commission alternative during periods of lower trading. Advisory fees are in addition to the internal expenses charged by mutual funds and other investment company securities. To the extent that clients intend to hold these securities, the internal expenses should be included when evaluating the costs of a fee-based account. Clients should periodically re-evaluate whether the use of an asset-based fee continues to be appropriate in servicing their needs. A list of additional considerations, as well as the fee schedule, is available in the firm’s Form ADV Part II as well as the client agreement.
